Jim Bergman, President

Jim is a former journalist whose feature articles on a wide variety of topics—from education to show business—appeared in mainstream publications running the gamut from The Sunday Observer Magazine (in London) and Penthouse to The Saturday Evening Post. In 1990,  Jim and his wife Carol established Mediacs, a full-service design and editorial company whose clients included two nonprofits—the 92nd Street Y and The International Women’s Writing Guild. His experience includes database design and maintenance, print and digital publishing, computer hardware and software maintenance, bulk email campaigns, teaching computer skills, and writing press releases, news, trade articles and website content.  Jim is also a screenwriter who has successfully marketed two scripts—a movie-of-the-week to CBS and a feature-length film, Graffiti WarriorsBama and Pistol.

Carol Bergman

Carol is a former Adjunct Associate Professor of writing at New York University’s College of Applied Liberal Arts (1997-2020) and a founding faculty member of the Gotham Writers Workshop. Her short story, “Objects of Desire,” published in Lilith and the Whetstone Literary Review, was nominated for a Pushcart Prize in nonfiction. She also compiled and edited “Another Day in Paradise,” (Orbis Books) an anthology of writing by humanitarian relief workers with a foreword by John Le Carré that was nominated for the J. Anthony Lukas Book Prize. While a resident in London for a decade, Carol regularly contributed articles and book reviews to The Times Educational Supplement.  Her articles, essays, short stories, poems, reviews and interviews have appeared in numerous publications all over the world. Carol also teaches private by-invitation-only writing workshops and helps writers develop their projects from inception to submission for publication.

Gerard Brown III

A graduate of Howard University in Washington, D.C, Gerard’s feature film script writing credits include Juice, widely recognized as an iconic cult classic and one of the most successful hip-hop films of all time. Gerard’s television credits include three seasons of HBO’s animated series, Happily Ever After: Fairy Tales for Every Child. He also penned three episodes of Spawn, Todd McFarlane’s Emmy Award-winning HBO adult animated series. A former Writer-in-Residence with the prestigious New York Shakespeare Festival (Public Theater), Gerard’s first full-length play, Jonin’, was produced by the Public Theatre’s legendary Joseph Papp. Gerard, who teaches screenwriting at SUNY–Orange, LIU-Brooklyn Campus, and Hofstra University, will mentor those who wish to develop and publish dramatic works for film and TV.

Carol Klenfner

Owner of Carol Klenfner PR, Carol brings 25 years of varied experience handling high-profile public relations clients. Her abilities as a generalist – expert in identifying each client’s story and effectively telling it – spans a range of personalities and enterprises including Ronnie Spector, Christine Ebersole, Rock & Roll Fantasy Camp, ABC Carpet & Home, the Fortune Society and Pilot Pen. Recent book publicity projects include “Belushi: A Biography” by Judith Belushi and Tanner Colby and “Rock Seen” by legendary rock and roll photographer Bob Gruen.

Carol’s career in publicity began in music as the go-to rock and roll publicist whose clients included everybody who was anybody. The Rolling Stones, The Who, Elton John, The Doors, Cat Stevens, Aerosmith, Pink Floyd and many others, hired her to help create and preserve an image, run interference, and when necessary, unleash damage control. The bands, their entourages, and the press, all came to know and respect Klenfner who continues to publicize clients such as Bob Gruen, who was the personal photographer to John Lennon.
